Project Description
From February 2021 to February 2022, Mallam Baba Yusuf; Founder/ GECO, GITC was also the Transformation Consultant/Chief Operating Officer (COO) to a Public-Private-Partnership Project (PPP) between GAMS & ABELL Consortium, and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources in Nigeria-West Africa; to optimize one of the Gurara Dam, one of largest Dams in northern Nigeria which is fitted with Hydro-electric generating capacity of about 30MW. Part of the Dam area circa 4,000 a of land, allotted for farming out of which about 3,000Ha is a vast farmland fitted with irrigation facilities, and three major fisheries layouts. Additionally, Dam has water reservoirs capacity of 880mcm that supply water to Lower Usuma Dam from where drinking water is supplied to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
Part of the strategic objective was to expand the to 18,000Ha for agriculture, real estate, education, healthcare, logistics, and oil and gas, and cottage industry.
The mandate was to utilize the location to setup one of the largest multi-sectoral Special Economic Zones in Africa.
Baba Yusuf successfully delivered his mandate of advising the Board of Directors and supporting the Managing Director of the Consortium on; Strategy, Corporate Governance, PPP Transaction Advisory, Business Design, Business Modelling, Masterplan, and Program Management. Mr. Yusuf held this role concurrently with his role as Founder/CEO, at GITC
